A Step-by-step guide to Systems Conversion for SAP S4HANA.jpeg

Sooner or later every organization using SAP Business Suite will need to decide whether they're migrating to S/4HANA, SAP's newest ERP software, or finding a new solution. Our new ebook simplifies the process and explains how you can migrate your current SAP system to SAP S/4HANA.

Why Migrate to SAP S/4HANA?

SAP S/4HANA delivers all the functionality and practicality you’ve come to expect from traditional systems, with increased connectivity and communication between your business applications. S/4HANA merges what once were siloed sets of data into a shared database. This allows a deeper level of insight, enabling you to analyze more data.

There are a number of benefits to storing your data in one shared database. You will benefit from real-time upgrades, reduce the downtime of systems and the manual effort of updating each system independently. S/4HANA has new user interfaces, a reduced data footprint, greater flexibility, higher throughput and facilitates a “single version of the truth” across your organization.

Migrating to S/4HANA - The Key Challenge

SAP S/4HANA only runs on SAP HANA (SAP’s database) so your current SAP ERP database will need to migrate to SAP HANA. In itself, this is actually a simple process.

But because S/4HANA changes and simplifies business processes, the way that your data is stored will change. This means instances of custom code will not function properly or work at all. Identifying and adapting your custom code to make it “HANA-ready” is an important element of the migration as well as the trickiest and most time-consuming part.

Obviously, the process of cross-referencing millions of lines of code in your system, with the list of changes in S/4HANA, is time-consuming. This is then followed by the even more strenuous task of changing all those instances of code.

SAP provides software that can do this, but it is limited in its functionality. The migration is a task that requires careful management, as the software doesn’t estimate the effort, time or cost of fixing issues.

Our new ebook takes you through the steps involved in a systems conversion, including the key challenge – custom code adaptation.

The ebook covers:

  • Benefits of an SAP S/4HANA migration
  • Understanding your pathway to SAP S/4HANA
  • The 6 steps of migration
